Deathwing Knights Conversion

Here's a video where I show up to make the most out of the Deathwing command squad box. I built the regular command guys and then used the remaining Knight bits along with the Terminators from Assault on Black Reach to make up a squad of Deathwing Knights. I could have done it the other way, but I wanted the Command Squad to have all the ornamental Deathwing bits on them. You could also do this using the Deathwing terminators from Dark Vengeance, just use them as your command squad and build the Knights fully from the box.

Hobbit Scenery WIP

Here's some pics of the Hobbit Scenery from the box set. I'm using some of the basic guide from the December White Dwarf. Nothing too special with the colours, just lots of drybrushing. Once the wood is done I'll probably give some glazes like I've done with the Skaven to make the planks slightly different colours (green, grey, red, etc). The bone bits will be done with typical bone colours once the wood is finished.

Bombur the Dwarf (tutorial and pics)

Another guy from the hobbit box set. I took a break to do some Ogres and now I want to finish these guys off. I've really sped up the process and can get a guy done in about an hour. Most of the slow down had to do with filming, but I've improved some of that.

I've used the tutorial from Tale of Painters as a guide (again), so here's the link to that article:

Anyway, trying out a different setup for this guy to see if it makes it easier to paint. I think it helps, but I have some other ideas to make sure the figure stays in focus and in frame.

Ogre Ironblaster (tutorial plus pics)

I've had this guy in my to-do pile for far too long. I didn't get around to painting it for one reason or another, but I did this guy along with 8 leadbelchers (coming later). I went back to using my reaper paints since that's what I've been using for my ogre army. I also have the equivalent (or close) GW paints shown below. The video is a little different, I filmed the first minute or so of each colour and have added a 360 rotation at the end. Hope it helps...

Battlescape tutorial + pics

Here's the 40k battlescape piece of scenery. I remember seeing this at gamesday 2009 in Toronto before it was released... it was sort of an easter egg in a display case since it hadn't been released.

Anyway, here it is... basically the same paint job as the rest of my scenery so that it all goes together.

Ogre WIP (Ironblaster and Leadbelchers)

I've been working on these guys for the last week or so... I haven't been taking as many pictures since I'm trying to do a video tutorial. We'll see how it turns out, but I'm basically filming a minute worth of each stage and will compile it together with some commentary. I really like painting ogres and once these guys are done I might actually have a playable army.
